Council plans to commence works in early 2024. Further updates on the construction program will be provided via this page.
Wentworth Street and Woodhouse Lane will remain open and accessible during the delivery of works. Council will consult with property owners and tenants regarding driveway access to impacted buildings.
This is a project listed in Council's Delivery Program and Operational Plan. The aim of this project is to deliver streetscape upgrade works, integrating multiple Council policies and strategies and addressing community feedback from CBD residents, workers and visitors wanting more outdoor dining, vibrancy and shade along Wentworth Street and Woodhouse Lane. In addition to improving the comfort and amenity of the public domain, this project will also enhance pedestrian safety through improved accessibility, lighting and CCTV surveillance.
Approximately four on-street paid parking spaces will be impacted by construction along Wentworth Street. These parking spaces will be restored once construction has been completed. Approximately three loading zones will be impacted by footpath widening along Woodhouse Lane, these are proposed to be moved to Wentworth Steet. Two kiss & ride spots (5 min) on Woodhouse Lane will be replaced with three 15 min bays.
One existing street tree will be removed, however several new mature street trees and garden beds will be planted to improve street landscaping and overall tree canopy coverage.
