Southern Precinct: Valentine Avenue

STREETSCAPE UPGRADES

Council is moving forward with the next stage of the Southern Precinct works. These streetscape upgrade works, which will take place along Valentine Avenue in Parramatta, include widening the footpath, planting trees to increase the tree canopy coverage, and installing smart poles to improve CCTV coverage. This is the first of two stages which will allow for a two-way conversion of the street, alleviating traffic congestion which builds up on Wentworth Street and towards the Parramatta Station Car Park.

Proposed works

  • Widening the footpath and installing granite pavers to improve pedestrian accessibility and provide the option for outdoor dining spaces.
  • Planting of new street trees to increase shade.
  • Installation of smart poles, microfibre cabling, CCTV cameras and smart bins.
  • Relocation of the temporary bus stop.

This project is a part of the Greening Our City grant program that is proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Local Government NSW and the City of Parramatta Council.

Council thanks you for your feedback. Consultation closed on 5pm on Wednesday 27 April 2022.

The project team is reviewing your feedback and will prepare a report for the City of Parramatta Traffic Committee.

Valentine Avenue will remain open and accessible during the delivery of works. Council will consult with property owners and tenants regarding driveway access to impacted buildings.

Council is aiming to commence works towards the second half of this year. Further updates on the construction program will be provided via this page.

This is a project listed in Council's Delivery Program and Operational Plan. The aim of this project is to deliver streetscape upgrade works, integrating multiple Council policies and strategies and addressing community feedback from CBD residents, workers and visitors wanting more outdoor dining, vibrancy and shade along Valentine Avenue.

There will be no changes to the current parking arrangements.
