As part of the works, No Stopping restrictions will need to be installed on the south side of Fitzwilliam Road between Ballandella Road and Willmot Avenue.
As part of the works, Council is proposing to install pedestrian refuge islands on all approaches to the roundabout to help pedestrians cross the road in two stages. Furthermore, Council is proposing to install a shared path on the north side of Fitzwilliam Road to allow cyclists to bypass the roundabout to help them avoid conflict with traffic.
Council has designed the roundabout to ensure that there is as little impact on vehicular access to properties as possible while not compromising the safety of the design. However, it is noted that there will be a number of properties located on the south side of the road between Ballandella Road and Willmot Avenue that will not be able to turn right into or out of the properties and will instead need to u-turn at the roundabout or use a slight detour from the surrounding street network. Furthermore, there will be similar impact to properties that rely on access from the service roads where there will be right turn restrictions meaning some motorists will need to undertake a slight detour through the surrounding street network to access their property.
Subject to the availability of funds for construction, Council intends to construct the roundabout within the 2025 calendar year.
