After a successful trial in December 2020 that transformed Phillip Lane into a shared public space with art, street dining and creative lighting thanks to $100,000 in funding from the NSW Government, Council asked for your feedback in late 2021 on four (4) proposals to activate the laneway on a permanent basis! You can check out the different proposals in the resources section!

And the winner is....

The winning concept selected by 56% of people was ‘Burra burawa burring gili’ (eel above countless generations of starlight) by Cundall Light4. The proposal represents the area’s First Nation heritage and will inspire future activation of the laneway.

Burra burawa burring gili is a collaboration with First Nations designers inspired by the winding Parramatta river and the burra (eel).
