Help us refresh and plan for the future of our City’s community infrastructure!
As the City of Parramatta continues to grow, we want to make sure that our parks, playgrounds, libraries, and other community spaces grow and adapt with it. To ensure that we are well-placed to prepare for this growth, we map out our current infrastructure and future needs in the Community Infrastructure Strategy (CIS).
Last updated in 2020, the CIS identifies gaps in community infrastructure and provides recommendations on what needs to be delivered and where. We are now in the early stages of updating this long-term plan and are looking for community input on community infrastructure priorities across the City of Parramatta local government area.
From parks and play spaces to aquatic centres, community hubs, and childcare facilities, we want to know what matters to you, what’s working well, and what could be better.
Your feedback will help us make decisions that reflect the needs of our community, now and into the future.
Community infrastructure refers to:
- Libraries
- Community spaces (e.g. community hubs, halls, Scout and Guide halls)
- Indoor sports and recreation centre
- Aquatic facility
- Parks
- Sportsgrounds
- Play spaces
- Community gardens
- Council-owned child care centres
Please note that car parks, civic plazas (such as Parramatta Square and Centenary Square), schools, hospitals, and public transport are not covered within the CIS. For a more detailed explanation of what community infrastructure includes, click here.
How can I get involved?
We want to hear what you think about the existing community infrastructure in City of Parramatta and what you would like to see delivered in the future.
Stage one community consultation runs until 5pm on Friday 22 August 2025. You can have your say:
Next steps
Following the conclusion of stage one consultation, all feedback will be collated and reviewed to help inform the drafting of the updated CIS, which is anticipated to be placed on public exhibition in mid-late 2026.
