Kim Rutherford Reserve - Playground Replacement

Council is upgrading the Kim Rutherford Reserve playground! Located in Wyralla Avenue in Epping, this well-loved neighbourhood playground sits in the southern part of the reserve. It is fully fenced and offers fantastic shade, making it a safe and comfortable space for young children. In late 2024, Council asked the local community to share their ideas for the design of the new playground in the first round of consultation.

During the public exhibition period, the community is invited to review and share feedback on the draft concept design for the playground upgrade. Community members are encouraged to have their say to ensure the final design reflects local needs and preferences. Feedback received during this stage will be used to help finalise the concept design before detailed design and delivery.

Explore the Draft Concept Design which has been informed by community consultation in late 2024.

The public exhibition closed at 5pm on Wednesday 9 July 2025.

Interactive plan for Kim Rutherford Reserve

Explore the Draft Concept Design

Kim Rutherford Reserve is a quiet and well-loved neighbourhood playground located on Wyralla Avenue, Epping. Fully fenced and shaded, the reserve features toddler-friendly equipment including a slide, climbing net, swings, and imaginative play elements. The playground is set within a grassy area, ideal for relaxed play and picnics.

The City of Parramatta is planning an upgrade to refresh the play space with new equipment, colourful rubber safety surfacing, and improved seating. This update follows community feedback from round one and aims to create a safer, more enjoyable space for children aged 0–12 years. The upgrade will retain popular features such as fencing and shade. Round one consultation closed on Tuesday 8 October 2024.
