Finlaysons Creek Trail

Project Overview

A Walking and Cycling Project

The Finlaysons Creek Trail is a regional walking and cycling project that will provide a continuous and accessible active transport link between Shannons Paddock and Lytton Street Park in Wentworthville. It will also complete a key missing link in the broader regional path network, connecting the M4 Shared Path in the south with the Norwest T-Way Shared Path, Milson Park and Parramatta Park in the north. The project will improve safety and amenity for people walking and cycling, strengthen links between parks, homes and local destinations, and enhance the Finlaysons Creek corridor as an attractive and usable green space.

Due to the scale and complexity of the project, it is being delivered in stages:

  • Stage 1 - Shannons Paddock (consulted on previously and commencing construction shortly)
  • Stage 2 - Shannons Paddock to Wentworth Avenue
  • Stage 3 - Wentworth Avenue to Lytton Park

Public Exhibition - Stages 2 and 3 Draft Concept Designs

Council publicly exhibited the draft concept designs for Stages 2 and 3 and invited submissions from the community. The exhibition period closed on Wednesday 1 July 2026.

The draft designs were developed in response to a range of project constraints, including land ownership, flooding, environmental conditions, engineering requirements, and approvals from Sydney Trains and Sydney Water. Throughout the design process, Council has remained committed to considering feedback from the community and key stakeholders.

Community submissions received during the exhibition period will help inform the final concept design. All submissions will be carefully reviewed and considered before a final design is recommended to Council for approval.

Community submissions will help:

  • Refine and improve the design
  • Identify local issues, concerns and opportunities
  • Ensure the project reflects community needs and aspirations
  • Inform the final concept design recommended to Council for approval
