Community consultation
Council invited the community to share ideas on improvements to the Stamford Avenue Shops, Ermington. The opportunity for feedback closed at 5pm on Monday 25 October 2021.
Stamford Avenue Shops is a small local centre comprising four shops at the corner of Stamford Avenue and Fremont Avenue, Ermington. It is a convenient local centre that specialises in beauty, homewares and cakes.
Council is looking to upgrade this local centre to help realise its full potential as a valued part of your local area.
$240,000 has been allocated through the Better Neighbourhood Program with the goal of enhancing safety, vitality and economic prosperity. For more information please read our Frequently Asked Questions.
Based on your feedback from October 2021, a draft Public Domain Concept Plan has been developed to guide the streetscape upgrades around the Stamford Avenue Shops.
In October 2022, we touched base with you to make sure that we have accurately captured your feedback!

Preparation of a Draft Public Domain Concept Plan based on community consultation
Public exhibition of the Draft Public Domain Concept Plan
Construction and project delivery with anticipated completion by mid-2024
In-scope items include things such as:
Additional off-street car parking spaces
Shopfront façade improvements (these need to be pursued by the landowner or tenants. Council will advocate for this and provide resources)
Following this Stage 1 consultation, a draft plan will be exhibited offering another opportunity for feedback before the final plan is presented to Council. The project aims to be completed by the end of June 2023, but will be delivered earlier if possible.
The Better Neighbourhood Program (BNP) is a long-running and successful Council program that focuses on the capital upgrades of local centres outside of the Parramatta CBD. The BNP commenced in 1999 and delivers improvements to centres with the goal of enhancing safety, vitality and economic prosperity.
Between 2011 and 2019, Council invested $11,761,333 in BNP projects, which consisted primarily of:
A total of $3,200,000 has been allocated to the BNP over the next two financial years. This includes $620,000 in FY 2019/20 and $2,580,000 in FY 2020/21. The funding allocation is larger in the second year to allow for detailed design and construction processes to be completed in FY 2020/21.
