The project aims to promote healthy, active living and enhance social connection by improving the quality and variety of park amenities, aligning with the concept of a 'shared backyard.'
The park will include a new multipurpose court, an all-ages playground, outdoor fitness stations, upgraded sportsfield lighting, realigned sports fields, a new circuit path with improved connections, and bush regeneration works in the Terrys Creek corridor.
Initial feedback from the "Play your way" consultation in November 2022 was incorporated into the draft concept plan. Ongoing community input is encouraged to ensure the project meets local needs.
The existing car park will be realigned to ensure compliance with disabled parking standards, and new concrete paths will improve connectivity and encourage walking.
Safety is a top priority, with design considerations for safe playground equipment, improved lighting, and secure paths and access points. In particular, the playground will be fenced and be located to allow passive surveillance to the barbeque area and oval. The new playground location will also create a safer approach to the childcare centre.
Efforts will be made to minimise disruption during construction, with clear communication to park users, nearby residents, childcare centre about any temporary impacts.
The project is expected to be completed by mid 2026. Regular updates will be provided on the project's progress.
