Project Background

This unnamed laneway, located off Farmhouse Road, Westmead is approximately 70 meters long (see location map below). It is primarily used for private access as part of Deicorp’s Development. Council collaborated with the developer to research the surrounding area and find suitable names. These names were submitted to the NSW Geographical Names Board for pre-approval. Now, you can choose from two pre-approved naming options.

After Margaret Bannister, a beloved nurse at Cumberland Hospital and President of the Wisteria Fete in Westmead.

Context and meaning

After a native plant that has been placed along the light rail tracks in the City of Parramatta in 2024. Close to the Westmead Light Rail stop.

Council will review the community feedback and confirm the final selection before reporting to Council. The preferred name selected will need to be endorsed by Council before being sent to the GNB for approval and gazettal. After a name has been gazetted, it will be placed on relevant signs and be made available on official maps.
