The playground is being replaced under the City of Parramatta Playground Replacement Program as it has reached the end of its functional life and must be upgraded to meet Australian standards for playground safety.
The new playground will feature:
- Seating with back and armrests, offering comfortable places to rest.
- A triple swing set, including a toddler seat, a standard seat, and a large nest seat, catering to children of all ages and abilities.
- A multi-play structure, with a climbing net, double slides, and a spiral slide, providing a variety of play options.
- A wheelchair-accessible spinner, designed for play that is inclusive of all ages and abilities.
- New rubber softfall surfacing to enhance safety.
- A new bin enclosure for improved waste management.
- Concrete steps and sandstone block seating walls for better access and additional seating.
The community feedback emphasized the need for:
• Connecting pathways, new seating, and bins
• A variety of swing sets, slides, climbing structures, and play features
• Accessible elements for children with disabilities
All of these suggestions have been included in the draft concept design to ensure it meets the needs of the community.
The following elements will be preserved:
• The existing picnic shelter and picnic area
• The existing bushland areas and trees, which will be protected
• The existing park signage
