Thank you to everyone that participated in Stage One community engagement for the upgrade of the playground at Ken Newman Park!
Forty people filled in the online survey, 72.5% of whom identified as parents/carers of young children and 72.5% who live nearby - over 50% use the park daily or weekly!
We asked what were the aspects of a playground most important and you said play equipment, shade structures and amenities such as bubblers. In terms of play equipment, the three most popular pieces of equipment were climing equipment, slides and swings.
Thank you to everyone that provided feedback during stage one and two consultations.
During stage one, in February to March 2022, we asked you what play equipment you wanted to see and how we could improve your experience at the park. Council reviewed this feedback and invited tenders from play equipment companies.
During stage two, in April 2022, we asked you to nominate your favourite play equipment out of the four options provided! There were four options to choose from, each with different themes and equipment. You can view the layouts below.
- New play equipment
- Playground surface upgrade
- New seating
- New shade tree planting
- New fencing and toilets
- Shade sails
- Exercise equipment
