Jenkins Street Reserve Playground Upgrade

Located on Jenkins Street in Dundas, this secluded local playground is tucked in behind the Silverwater Road sound barrier, and although the address is Dundas, it is closer to the Bartlett Street local shopping centre in Ermington. The playground is presently targeted to pre-school aged children (0–5 years) and juniors (6-12 years) and has ‘skill based’ play type elements.

The City of Parramatta Community Infrastructure Strategy recommends that upgrades to local playgrounds in the Dundas area should cater to both pre-schoolers (aged 0-5) and juniors (aged 6-12), as well as increase the ‘natural’, ‘sensory’ and ‘imaginative’ play type elements. Along with community feedback, these recommendations have helped to guide what the playground upgrade will include.

Community engagement and next steps

During stage one community engagement, Council determined how the local community uses the playground at Jenkins Street Reserve and also developed an understanding of what the community wanted to see delivered as part of the upgrade.

Based on this feedback and site requirements, Council developed three (3) options for the new play equipment. During stage two consultation, the community selected Option Two. You can check out the various options below! Council has now developed a concept plan which can be found in the resources section.

Construction commenced in early April 2022 and is scheduled to be finalised by 30 June 2022 (pending wet weather).
