We welcome one-on-one discussions with businesses and landowners about ways Council can help to support businesses in our industrial lands.
Please contact the project lead, Beau Reid – Project Officer Economic Development on 02 9806 5538 or via email at BReid@cityofparramatta.nsw.gov.au should you wish to have a discussion about your business.
This project will not be looking at site-specific or precinct wide changes to the land use policy framework.
This study is broad in its objectives. When completed, it will establish a comprehensive analysis of each precinct based on business and industry types and the relationship of the business and industries to the built environment, and well to the broader supply chain both within the precinct and regionally.
By building this baseline analysis, Council aims to understand the industry make-up of the precincts in great detail to be able to inform future work to make these precincts more productive, attractive to investment and more desirable places to visit. Recommendations may include (but are not limited to); public domain improvements, traffic and parking, public transport, marketing and promotions, economic development activities and land use policy.
Please note, this project will not recommend any site-specific land use changes.
Council has selected these three precincts as they represent the three largest industrial precincts (both by area and workforce) within the City of Parramatta. City of Parramatta’s Employment Lands Strategy (2016) provides direction for future strategic planning for each of these precincts informed by industry need. Further, the Greater Sydney Commission’s Central City District Plan recommends that our industrial lands are “retained, reviewed and managed” into the future.
To ensure that Council understands the unique landscape of each of these precincts and the businesses and industries within them, Council is undertaking this study to inform future strategic planning in line with our Employment Lands Strategy so that we are best placed to retain, review and manage our industrial lands into the future.
Any information you provide us will help Council to better understand your business now and how you see it growing and/or changing into the future. This will enable Council to understand the needs of the precincts holistically and plan future interventions, programs and policies accordingly, including economic development activities, marketing, land use planning, public domain improvements, local transport and other initiatives.
Industrial employment lands are valued highly by Council as places of diverse employment and economic activity. The nature of industrial activity in the City of Parramatta (and more broadly) has been progressively changing over the past 50 years. With the rapid transformation of the City now and into the future, Council is interested in understanding how current (and future) industries in the selected precincts operate and what role Council may have in ensuring that the businesses and the land they occupy remain prosperous, competitive and agile to change well into the future.
