The project will be co-funded by the NSW Government’s ‘Places to Roam’ program with a 50% contribution from Council.

 

The Escarpment Lookout transforms an inaccessible and underutilised reserve into a scenic and cultural destination. The lookout is at the centre of the gateway to the Parramatta River and Parramatta CBD, recognising the major potential of this site to become a flexible, vibrant and engaging public space.

 

Surrounding residents on Stewart Street will experience a minor impact during construction with vehicles entering the project area. Access will be provided for the residents at all times and care will be taken to minimise noise.

 

Council will work towards retaining all existing trees as well as plant additional new trees where possible.

 

Given the proximity to the cliff face, the design of the lookout will be structurally certified to ensure stability and safety of the lookout. Handrails and/or fencing will also be provided as part of the lookout design.
