Draft Local Orders Policy

The City of Parramatta Draft Local Orders Policy is now due for review. The revised policy governs orders issued by the City of Parramatta Council under the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW), requiring individuals to take or avoid specific actions, meet property standards, or complete work to satisfy those standards.

Key changes in this Draft

There are no changes to the policy in this review compared to the previous edition.

The Draft Local Orders Policy outlines guidelines for residents, businesses, workers, and visitors regarding acceptable standards in the local area, including property maintenance, public health, and safety. It provides transparent and consistent criteria for Council consideration when investigating complaints or issuing orders on various matters such as management of overgrown vegetation, unsightly or hazardous conditions, fencing adjacent to public land, hairdressing and beauty salon operations, and shared accommodation etc.


Public exhibition period - Now closed

Submissions were welcome on the Draft Local Orders Policy until 5pm on Monday 29 September 2025.


Next steps

Following public exhibition and a review of all submissions, the Draft Local Orders Policy will go to Council for adoption.
