Where is David Scott Reserve Playground?

David Scott Reserve playground is nestled under large trees at the intersection of Midson Road and Wyralla Avenue in Epping.

The existing playground is in need of renewal and the current location is prone to flooding in periods of rainfall which impacts on accessibility.

The new location

In order to improve accessibility andplay opportunities, Council is proposing to relocate the playground.

The new location has been selected as it allows for:

  • improved passive surveillance form the street and within the park
  • consolidation of play equipment to the one area (the swings and play structures are currently separated by a foot path from the Street)
  • construction will not impact on existing trees or tree roots (which is likely in the current location)

As part of the relocation Council would still include a new path from the Wyralla Avenue entry point and new tree planting to increase tree canopy cover over key activity areas.

Previous community engagement

Thank you to everyone who provided their feedback in Stage One. You told us:

  • Swings, climbing equipment/slides and imaginative play features were your 'top three' items ofplay equipment
  • Play equipment, shade trees and seating are your main priorities, with footpaths and a bubbler in fourth and fifth place
  • 89% said 'Yes' to relocating the playground away from tree roots

Please note, we have a set budget which does not provide for a bubbler, however Council is working to identify additional funding to meet this request.
