Proposed raised pedestrian crossing on Midson Road, Epping at Grant Close (near West Epping Park)

As cities evolve, different areas experience varying levels of traffic safety concerns, prompting local governments to adopt new traffic and safety management strategies. The City of Parramatta actively uses community reports of near misses and suggestions to identify locations that may require review and potential safety upgrades to enhance road safety.

The section of Midson Road at Grant Close, near West Epping Park, is a well-used crossing point for both park visitors and members of the West Epping Public School community. Although a raised flat-top speed hump is currently in place to reduce vehicle speeds at the intersection, increased traffic and pedestrian activity over time has highlighted the need for enhanced safety measures. To address this, Council is proposing to remove the existing raised flat-top speed hump and install a raised pedestrian crossing on Midson Road near Grant Close, with the aim of improving safety and supporting the well-being of the local community.

This project is fully funded by the Australian Government through its Federal Road Safety Program.

Public exhibition completed

In August and September of 2025, Council sought input regarding this proposal and invited submissions from residents, businesses, and relevant authorities with the public exhibition period closing on Tuesday 23 September 2025.

Next steps

Following the conclusion of public exhibition, all submissions will be reviewed and considered before the proposal proceeds to the next step of the approval process. See the Timeline for details.
