Advisory Panels play a key role in providing strategic, expert, and impartial advice to the Council on the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of the City of Parramatta policies, strategies and plans.
Advisory Panels are not an executive panel and do not have the authority to:
- Expend money on behalf of Council
- Undertake any work on behalf of Council
- Make decisions or recommend action(s) to Council
- Commit Council to any arrangement
- Consider any matters outside its specific reference
- Direct Council officers in the performance of their duties; or
- Represent the Council in any communication with the public or media without the express permission of the City of Parramatta.
For specific information on the role of each Advisory Panel, please refer to the respective Draft Terms of Reference in the Resources section of this page.
All applications must be received within the expression of interest period (Monday 28 April 2025 until 5pm on Monday 26 May 2025).
All applications must be made using the online application process/system (as hosted on Participate Parramatta) or via a hard copy form submitted at one of the City of Parramatta branch libraries or the City of Parramatta Customer Service Centre located at PHIVE (5 Parramatta Square, Parramatta).
All applications will be assessed on merit and should address the selection criteria outlined in the respective Terms of Reference. The appointment of community members will seek to achieve a mix of skills and to represent the diversity within and interests of the community.
The Convenors will then prepare a report to Council recommending the community members to be appointed to the respective Advisory Panels.
Community membership shall be determined by Council.
If more applications than positions are received, and deemed suitable for appointment as community members, offers of membership will be made to the top applicants and the remainder placed on an eligibility list.
Where a vacancy occurs, the vacancy may be filled by a person on the eligibility list (without the need for further approval from Council) if they are still interested and available to join, unless within 6 months of the end of the Council term.
