No loss of parking!

Council is proposing to remove 8 existing trees in the median due to:

  • Poor growth form and pruning requirements under overhead powerlines due to tree height
  • Placement of some trees right next to power poles

Council is proposing to replace these trees with 8 new water gum trees strategically placed between power poles. The mature height of these trees is better suited under overhead power lines.

Due to the limited budget for this project, Council will look to inject colour by painting the new seats, new shade sail posts, posts of existing street signs and the new street library.

Council will continue to look for funding opportunities in the future.

Upgrades of shops facades are not within the Council’s scope of works due to the Dundas Shops being private property.

However, the relaunch of The Façade Improvement Grant (previously named Retail Frontage Improvement Program) is aimed to be finalised by the end of the year.

The Grant is open and offers successful applicants up to 30% of the total costs of upgrade works, to the maximum dollar value of $20,000 and seeks to financially incentivise commercial property owners and tenants within the Parramatta LGA.

Improving retail shopfronts not only creates active frontages and enhances the city’s vibrancy and presentation, but also supports the retail rebirth of Parramatta and its local centres.
