Council would like to thank the community who provided feedback on the proposed Stage 1 upgrade works during a period of Community Engagement held from 16 March to 1 April 2026. Community feedback showed strong support for the proposed works, with 70% fully supporting the proposal and a further 28% supporting it to some extent.
Construction of Stage 1 Doyle Ground Sports Facility Improvements is scheduled to commence on Tuesday 19 May 2026. Stage 1 of the proposed upgrade works will deliver a high-quality natural turf sports field including soil improvements, new sports field drainage, irrigation, and sports field turf, new cricket wickets, solar path lighting, and park furniture. Construction works are expected to be completed in early-2027, with the sports field re-opened in mid-2027 following a period of turf establishment (final dates subject to weather and delays).
Stage 2 upgrade works including a new sports pavilion building and cricket practice nets are currently under design. Council will be providing the community with more information on Stage 2 upgrade works soon.
In the meantime, the sports field will be closed to the public. The circuit path, toilets, playground, and fitness equipment areas will remain open until further notice.
